Ancient enchantress of the river
how you wander! Upstream, downstream
in your nightgown. Gladiator, lazy,
without predator, unbound.
Mutually respectful of fisherman and washerwoman alike,
Your Art in us, like Spartacus, you
lie down gladly and laze the day away,
on the bank, in the sun, unmolested.
Your Art in us, like Spartacus.
