"Can you even believe this like, this woman is walking a sausage dog AND an Alsatian. You couldn't get more different."
"It's a good photo David, and a strong positive story. 'Different Strokes, sausage dogs whose owners also own a very different canine'. That must apply to a lot of our readers."
"The images are so phenomenal," said David "Like this one of a sausage dog with the greyhound, and the greyhound is so like straining on the leash."
"It's an important issue actually," said Ella. "A lot of our sausage dog owners also have other non-SD dogs and it can cause problems going walkies. No other animal on earth walks like a sausage dog."
"There's the affection deficiency problem as well," she continued. "It's natural for owners to show their affection to higher-up dogs first. Sausage dogs in mixed households get minimal affection, the occasional consolatory pat as an afterthought."
"It's a good article Ella. Important stuff, eye-catching images and a problem sausage dog owners can relate to. It's sure to knock this new magazine into a cocked-hat."
The new magazine was a rival publication to Today's Sausage Dog, due to be launched the same day as the next issue.
"What sort of title is that even," said David. "The Sausage Dog Today?"
"It's not catchy," agreed Ella. "I can't see there being room in the market for two sausage dog magazines."
Still, it was with some trepidation that the team awaited sight of the first edition of The Sausage Dog Today.
They had ordered a copy to be delivered to the office and gathered round when it was arrived. It was Tony, the editor, who was tasked with opening the envelope.
"How is this going go compete with our front page," said David. "A sausage dog and an Alsatian, it's such a strong image."
Tony tore the envelope open and extracted the magazine. The Sausage Dog Today, the title read, in a catchy, young font, which even Tony didn't recognise.
Underneath the title was a photo even more catchy than the font.
It showed an image of a sausage dog being taken for a walk with a zebra under the headline 'Sausage Dog owners and their Unusual Second Pets'.
