Just Feeling Down

I am feeling down tonight,
not because I have reason
but because I have no reason not to!
Responsibility is a burden
but is a load, which I shoulder;
knowing that if I don’t
no one else will!
Tonight though, it seems heavier;
the normal chip –
a mortuary slab!
I don’t know if I can
carry it much further on my own
without dressing it with the meat
that it yearns for -
and needs; to become functional.
It’s cold and clinical and
serves a purpose;
unlike me!
Now excuse me, while
I cry…
