A different night out

I have to admit even in my line of work I did not expect my editor to give me the post of food critique, and to top it off with my first assignment at this particular establishment. All though I must agree with him that I will be, (I hope,) the right person for this particular restaurant.
I was met at the door by a gentleman, I say gentleman by the impression he gave as he greeted me, not condescending in in any way with, as most people would term my disability.
I do not consider myself disabled, I manage mostly all I wish to do without additional help, and tonight I was visiting a rather special restaurant.
Guiding me to my table in such a way I was able to find the chair myself running my hand first over the smooth woodwork and then down to feel first the soft leather of the back and then with my legs to find the seat.
Seated and assuming that the brail menu would be positioned conveniently I reached across the smooth polished wood of the table, real wood not a plastic, I could feel the grain of the wood under the polish of an expensive well finished table top.
A little more exploring and my fingers found the delicate lace edge of the table covering before coming to the embossed leather cover of the menu.
I wasn’t let down, the cover under my fingers had an intricate design embossed into it, and the brail both on the outside leather and on the inside pages spoke volumes about the establishment.
As my fingers moved over the numerous combinations available, the descriptions making my mouth water at the very idea, and almost leaving me lost for choice. While all the time my nose was experiencing the slight but glorious odours coming from the kitchen and tables around me, bringing saliva to my mouth and emptiness to my stomach.
It was a different man who came to take my order, gently guiding me through the less obvious possibilities, while asking me about my likes dislikes and preferences, as he gently eased me amongst the various combinations and choices.
Once my order had been taken, I was surprised to find a complimentary glass of, as I was informed white wine being place by my hand. Wine that I was assured was in keeping with the starter I had ordered.
The first course arrived to be served on a specially designed plate for a person like myself. The first bite filling my mouth with exquisite flavour and textures. Seafood that was both a delight to the nose and the tongue, and as the waiter had said, the wine certainly complimented the food.
The main course again was served on a plate especially shaped for a person like myself. Tender tasty and to my surprise it was actually hot. I think someone must have warned them that I like cold food cold and hot food hot; and once again served with a glass of suitable wine.
Desert came as a delicately flavoured iced fruit arrangement, one that eased the taste buds down from the high of the main course and set the mouth ready for a delicious coffee.
In all a most rewarding evening that I can recommend without hesitation to my all readers for an interesting evening out.
