to start the day

One Day
To rise with a yawn, and greet the day
Or lay abed, as long as I may
Breakfast is over, and work does beckon
It’s time to make tracks, I reckon
My first job of the day, awaits my touch
Just a twist and a turn, it isn’t much
My next call is a service, just once a year
It’s for a customer, I hold most dear
It’s for a little old lady, left alone all day
I stop and talk, as with words we play
On the road again, and my phone is ringing.
Not another one, I’m thinking
An alarm that is faulty, and not far from here
It’s not one of mine, I’m glad to hear
An alarm bell is ringing, it’s old not new
I go to the door, paint white and blue
The noise in the house is hard on the ear
The panel I ask, can you show me where
Take off the cover, and look inside
It’s only the battery, I decide
A test of the system, and every things fine
Reset the alarm, and put back on line
An annual service, why of course I do
And for your daughter, yes one too
It’s getting late, my calls are all done
And now I am on, my homeward run
Van put to bed, and for a shower just time
Your meal will be ready, oh love of mine
Now office work is over, it’s all safely done
Its time Gary’s homework, was begun….
