"amidst ancient egypt"

at this very given moment
as i stand on my balcony
and slowly survey as far
as the eye may see, i witness
the purposeful lapping of
the wise, history of the nile.
there is a warm breeze that lulls us,
creating serenity, as
we propel forward.
voices are quiet, civilised;
gestures slow and deliberate.
i sense being enfolded in
dignity and respect,
integrity and grace. all
obediently and knowingly
yield to one passenger: pharaoh.
my position is to his right
and it is there that in this
very moment i may be found;
the yet rising, feminine
ankh-sheshonk.
is it no wonder i write with
my ears and listen with my
tongue?
especially for my father & mother
