So many years have passed us bye,
since we first became good friends
and though the years have distanced us
and that's how it sadly ends

I promise I'll remember you
and once in every while
as I dust off my memories
I'll think of you and smile

I like this, Trevor. It is simple, to the point, yet evokes a love that will carry through the ages. Note your fifth line, 'e' in remember snuck off for a cry.

Thanks for the comments. The e stopped crying, dried itself off and came back like a good boy. I wrote this last year for a friend who sadly passed away 2 years ago. I actually forgot about it until I found the scrap of paper in my bag falling to pieces & thought it was also poignant enough to share with another friend who passed away last week. So I thought I'd share it on here! I think it would be nice in a card.
