Jacobs’s seed, taken down from the ladder
Unseen by men, uneaten waxen and not growing in the earth for an age
The earth changed, high pressure changing malleability
For this age was not eternal
It only seemed so to the short memory of men

Man against man
Nation against nation
Earth scorched in memory
Treason held the world at ransom
The form of something taking shape

Great Ugly leviathan which can’t be slain
The earth will eat thee
For your time has passed
Your power has grown and grown but the effort has spent your form
What you are cannot hold any longer

The sleeper has awakened
And looked on death fearful and transforming
Transfixed in time, hurt by deed
Left trembling, warts and all exposed
“Fear is the mind killer
I will face my fear
I will let it burst through me”

Although it is fragmented I find your poem very interesting, especially these lines: “For this age was not eternal It only seemed so to the short memory of men” “Earth scorched in memory Treason held the world at ransom” “The earth will eat thee For your time has passed” “The sleeper has awakened” - HG Wells? “Fear is the mind killer I will face my fear I will let it burst through me” You have very good ideas here. You might think of re-writing the poem Rob, I think you could make more of it. Best wishes! & Nolan

Thanks Nolan this poem is about "Dune" by Frank Herbert. I,am a big HG Wells fan though, I think I will rexamine some of the themes thanks for the helpful comment
