A short story about a bed bug called Nigel

Keith had a bed bug. It was no ordinary bed bug. Every time he had a nightmare, which was most nights, it would bite him right at the scariest moment and wake him up.
Keith tried everything to get rid of it but to no avail. He had scoured the internet for treatments and the most technologically advanced anti-bug protection covers known to man. But still the bug remained.
As nothing seemed to work, Keith decided to use some reverse psychology. He thought that if he gave the bed bug a name it would become a sort of friend or acquaintance and then no longer something to fear. So, he called it Nigel.
From then on, every night before Keith went to sleep he would talk to Nigel. He would tell him about his problems; his difficult day, relationships issues or whatever was on his mind. It turned out that Nigel was, in fact, a very reliable and trustworthy friend, not to mention a great listener.
It wasn’t long before Keith stopped having nightmares and his quality of sleep improved exponentially. He even started to enjoy life again.
Keith was so happy he didn’t mind that Nigel still bit him once in the night, he would simply drift back off to sleep again.
