The lady and the pig
It was a bright and sunny day in August which considering where we
lived was a wonder.
I sat in the veranda just minding my own business when I noticed miss
Alice all dressed up walking down the road in front of our house. Miss
Alice is a picture worth seeing when she's dressed to go, come to think
of it she's always a fine sight.
Today miss Alice wore a dress with bright red flowers; the green leaves
were of a poisonous colour you some times saw before the government
began controlling the use of food colour.
Any way there walked miss Alice, daintily stepping in her four-inch
patent leather pumps, her parasol decorated with Japanese ladies
dressed in kimono.
The sun did what he was supposed to do and there was not even a small
piece of shadow to be had along that whole street.
Porky the pig also walked through the street that day and as fate would
have it at the same time as miss Alice; you must know something about
Porky, it is so that porky is convinced that he is human, no matter
what Mr. Jonah tried to do he could not change his mind about this. He
just simply knew that he was a person, basta!
Well when Porky caught sight of miss Alice he fell for her as if struck
by lightening, he was prepared to go to the ends of the earth for miss
Alice. With a friendly squeal he asked her permission and pushed
himself against her legs. Miss Alice would have nothing to do with a
pig without manners she moved away from his touch, Porky did not intend
to be so easily foiled he came back screaming miss Alice became
desperate, she was just going to use her parasol to defend her honour
when she spotted a taxi, Miss Alice did not hesitate she ran towards
the taxi. Seeing her predicament the taxi driver rushed to the rescue
even opening the door for her. He did not know Porky, before Miss Alice
could close her parasol sat Porky with a contented smile on the back
seat.
