Through Your Eyes
Today you said softly to me,
"Come , we will walk together."
Then you captured me in the
Soft prison of your fingers
And we walked.
I saw the wonders of the world
Through your eyes,
The sun teasing the snow drops
In their mossy bed,
playfully turning the surface water
of the lake to a shower
of sparkling silver.
I saw the mother
bend over the child
kissing her pain away,
experienced the sweet whispers
of lovers
awake again after the lingering night,
tasted the hunger of the homeless
for a place to rest their heads
I saw the moon enhance the drama
of the dark storm clouds
and felt the fresh wonder
of the new-born day.
And you said,
"I will lend you my eyes
Whenever you have need of them
to see."
Then I, living in the darkness
until now,
I cried, because I felt loved!
