The bells had rung for midnight
when I heard my doorbell chime
and, opening the door, I found
the infant child of time.
It lay upon my doorstep
gazing up with helpless eyes
that seemed to say ‘take care of me’
then it became sunrise.

Well deserved cherries!
Very well written for a New Year Poem.
Cleverly thought out.
Maybe could say, as I watched the sunrise!
Like how you brought in the baby of the bells.
We had similar thing happens here?
But it's "Jazz" 'Green Eyes' neighbour's everloving cat, knows the loving touch of us mainly me,like look out the window. Cries "Allo Allo" Allo"
open the door pushes nect one with his nose, then looks in kitchen pleading eyes, touch of milk.
Scampers intop bedroom two duvets, I tickle him snuggles down in a ball. or if I'm in bed.
Mine let him in, I talk him,"where have you been your lovely'. Tries to come right up to top of bed,
I might be reading, I gently sshsh him go,as don't
pick him up,claws growing, and might get in bed?
"Jazz" jump over onto other bed duvet, nestle on Ray's old jumper, curls around himself, looks cute!
flat out asleep hours. Take few photos again.
Wake up stretch out, cling on if doesn't want to go
out, hide under tablecloth. If I play and drag scarf or whatever,'Jazz' "Green Eyes" poem, knows when be naughty! and good. Spring from my bed and duvet onto his, jumper of Ray's or woolly shirt, now he is in Ray's bed.
Many photos taken of him amazing comfort cat black with bit of siamese in him, cry! Allo! Allo! Allo! outside on our low wall, sounds so real calling us! Mine never had a cat in now sits on his lap! Most unusal antic cat. Daughter has three. Never ever talk to a cat, now I do this one certainly answers me!
Watches, the washing blowing used too. Now when I water garden, take notice of so much. No! kitten.
Definitely magical cat sitting on wall if not been out. Waiting for me. Owner adores him of course.
Or we have been great night "The Wheatsheaf" poetry London dashes! by call him, in for while and out! If he could talk! My goodness me.
Happy New Year.

I read this poem earlier,

I read this poem earlier, and didn't have time to comment.
Then I read it again, later, and thought I had got hold of the wrong end of the stick, but no, I hadn't.
It is a beautiful poem, and the personification worked wonderfully, which was, indeed, how I'd read it the first time.
Well done on the cherry.

Just seen the lovely reply comment.
Thanks so much, no! I already did a poem,
called it "Green Eyes" laswt year or so, then updated,by adding to it, neighbour's cat!
Tehn got it put in local paper, emailed nice, say
found room and assistant. So re-put on AbcTales.
OMG email 'John Wilkes' Edited couldn't believe, asked for poems of, 'Six Penn'orth of chips' of which Editor t.cook (Tony) kindly helped me,course he
was delighted for me, or 'Green Eyes' but two put in, AbcTales issue 23.
Bought the great colour stories and poems.
Daughter has Gt Dane friend breeds them, so big frightens me,soft and loveable seen. He is up to her
chest standing alone, she is tall, think keeping him, cats not that pleased. We as children had ginger one called it 'Marmalade' Then first big white one, called 'King' he would lift door latch, sat on window-sill, in those days, scary if look. He would chase 'Marmalade' under the bed, tufts of fur! Poor 'Marmalade' used to be and orchard garden, then
at home, and he came up path one day then, with a rat
trap attached broken poor. Balance on the old fender?
bamndaged up we would hold the fender while, make sure wouldn't fall, but got better then.
Yes I like tortoiseshell colour's for cat too.
Dogs, as a child and near boy, we used to walk dogs from Kennels, over the downs, then safe, three or four leads each hand, different breeds.
Going for now. Cat's and dogs for n/homes very theraputic, think that's right spelling! for people
and for stroking the touch. And mainly know and stay
if person is ill,cat or dog owned by n/home etc; won't move until end facts. Photo Ray sent attached, he unfortunately cut off the book,I won for the look a like, homemade had to be all, suit I put music notes on sewed and daughter,'The Sound Of Music'
lady comedian judges all applause! omg got highest applause and spoke in microphone, shaking as my belated mum, got me go 1995 as extras, Theaytre Roayl Brighton. For Noel Coward's play, "Cavalcader"
amazing, no experience both got in, I said she would love to been on stage again with me! When went up steps last minute, with sheet music of 'The Sound Of Music' man at top, I said same to him,I was so nervous.
Also asked Manager could get book signed by phone, and
kindly sent letter say memory of being on the stage again. Put in book. How lucky I was, hubby met me from show, he was surprised, get bus home as well heavy. Beautiful pictures and story of "Van Trappe"
family. Thats enough from me.
Take care.
