The boat to dreamland (A Lullaby)
By well-wisher
- 1233 reads
The little boat;
it drifts away;
it drifts away;
it drifts away.
The little boat;
it drifts away;
it drifts away
to dreamland.
And on that boat
there is a cat;
there is a cat
in a green hat.
And on that boat
there is a cat
and he’s going to dreamland.
And with him is
an elephant;
an elephant;
an elephant.
And with him is
an elephant
whose trunk is packed
for dreamland.
And there’s a little
dancing doll;
a dancing doll
whose name is Moll.
And there’s a little
dancing doll
who’s dancing off
to dreamland.
And there’s a sailor
dressed in blue;
all dressed in blue
whose name is Lou.
And there’s a sailor
dressed in blue
who’s sailing off
to dreamland.
And there’s a little
teddybear;
a teddybear
with golden fur.
And there’s a little
Teddybear
and he’s going to dreamland.
And there’s even
a unicorn;
a unicorn
with a silver horn
and there’s even
a unicorn
who’s going home
to dreamland.
And the moons shining
in the night;
up in the night,
it’s big and bright.
And the moons shining
in the night
as they drift off
to dreamland.
Why don’t you come
along with them
along with them
along with them?
Why don’t you come
along with them
upon that boat
to dreamland?

A nice sleepy feel to this.
A nice sleepy feel to this.
One little point is that, personally, to keep the gentle rhythm going I wanted to drop in 'off' in the last line of verses 2 and 6 ie 'going off to dreamland'.
