Helmikuu – Month of the Pearl (The Finnish name for February)

Gentle clouds, with snow white curls,
scatter their little drops of moisture
which, touched by winter, turn to pearls
as bright as those from any oyster.

And, likewise, little pearls of joy
roll from the eyes, so bright and gay,
of all the little girls and boys
happy that Spring is on its way.
