I hear a bird who’s singing all alone
and the song it sings seems oh so monotone
but then it’s joined by other happy birds
and, suddenly, a melody is heard.
I see a single blossom on a tree
and think how beautiful that tree will be
when Spring, from Winter’s slumber’s fully roused
and brightly coloured blossoms crowd its boughs.
And, like a bird or blossom all alone,
my heart is only half what it could be.
It waits to meet that wonderful someone;
to become Spring or a soaring Symphony.
