In the old days it was like it or lump it both gastronomically and culturally but whenever something new did come along, like the video cassette, you cherished it as if some new crate had washed up on your desert island.

When I look back at the 70's they seem like a Soviet bloc country of time compared with the decadent imperialist West of today but little things meant more in those days.
