The Unscary Scarecrow

My scarecrow could not scare the crows;
he could not scare a fly;
infact the crows would peck his nose
and poke him in the eye
They'd laugh at him and call him things
like "Dumb old straw for brains".
Meanwhile the crows would live like kings
pecking on fields of grain.
But it hurt the poor scarecrow's pride
when those birds laughed and jeered.
His poor hay heart would ache inside
and he'd weep scarecrow tears.
But then, one day, a fairy fond
of helping those in strife
tapped him with her bright fairy wand
and it brought him to life.
Then leaping to his feet of straw;
waving his hands of hay;
the scarecrow ran about and roared,
scaring those crows away.
Now we're rid of those feathered pests,
he plays with boys and girls
and they say he's the happiest
scarecrow in all the world.
