What I think of cynicism

People walk on with hope;
with idiotic idealism
against fists and sticks;
against stonings;
against police dogs
and water cannons;
against plastic bullets;
against fascist machine guns;
against cavalry sabres;
against lonely police car rides to lynching trees
and police brutality in their cells;
against communist tanks
and chemical weapons.

People walk on with hope
who really know what hopelessness means.

But obviously they've never had it as hard as you.
That's why you're so cynical.
