Take that step

when I think that life has turned its back,
and im feeling really down,
I look to see, but nothing
and theres darkness all around.
alone I stand in silence
no sound, no sight to see
beneath my feet uneven
and all there is is me

I falter as I take a step,
unsure which way to go
as once the things I was sure of
I now seem not to know,
as I reach into the darkness
strain to see a light
a mist then passes over me
a glint of something bright.
in eagerness I turn myself
follow where I saw it go
quicken in my state of hope
and before I think, I know.
Tis not that I should wait around
for that light to see,
but that I need to take that step myself
and turn on that light for me.
