Beautiful in white

Today the world is covered in
white.
A beautiful, thick layer of the finest
crystal
shrouds the still quiet
landscape.

Without a doubt, she's beautiful as
ever
as she walks up to the altar,
our ancient Mother
Earth,
her pristine wedding dress covering
all the
scars of time and man.

Just for a
while
there is no buzzing and honking,
no snow
scooters or minivans,
just a tiny bird,
so small it
would fit
in the palm of my hand,
singing its own
version of the wedding march
to those that would stop to hear
it.

And there she stands as always,
her sad
beauty unchanged through the ages,
waiting to be stood up
again,
waiting for a lover that might never
come.
Sereen, peaceful? eternal.
Beautiful in white.
