OBVIATED

In my dream I was obviated
Said the grandma
My story telling was replaced by
iPads
My colourful buttons and patches
Replaced by Primark
My wisdom was lingering in a void
Almost a black hole.
Sucked by density
No possibility
For its light
To reach the youth
In my dream I was obviated
Many stories of wars and battles
Diseases past
Untold
Many tales of loves
And myths and legends
left un-narrated
In my dream I was obviated
No remedies for heartache
For the youth offered,
No condolences given
For the battles un-won
No techniques taught
How to fight a foe
In my dream I was obviated.
Like a unique curtain castaway
Losing its battle to a fashionable blind.
In my dream I was obviated :
My teeth missing.
My muscles crumbled;
Turning into flickering shadows
A shadow puppeteer
Pulling my strings
Telling a story of the youth lost
A story of battles un-won.
Numerous scars on my shadow
Each telling a story of their own.
Battles, love found, love lost
Child birth, embroidered gilts
Flower arrangements
Travels of mysterious lands
Miscarriages of foetus
Miscarriages of justice
In my dream I was obviated
But not obliterated!

I enjoyed this play on
I enjoyed this play on "obviated", Yasemin. Made unnecessary. Time serms to do that to people. Particularly grandmas and grandads. Poor souls.
