Sitting opposite
Oblivious
Of what is around
I see
Someone precious

Was beautifully
Content
Delighted
Didn't have far to look
Was there
Composed
Doing her work
Me
Reading her book

I saw (Abeba),Flower
Bright star
With eyes
Like a star

Digesting
Her
Agonizing
Informative
And
Creative
Narrations
Of her Tribulations
Paradoxically
Had attractive stories

Her insight
Into
Her inner thinking
I read without blinking

Sad and proud
Sad
To read about her
Unjust treatment
At the hands of the brutes
( as she calls them )
Whose torture methods
Were copied
From the Nazis

Proud
For
Articulating
And
Exposing clandestinely
The brutes'
Crime against humanity

These brutes
In broad day light
Might have abducted
And
Incarcerated her
In a windowless cell

But her spirit
Was high in anticipation
Of her country's
Impending liberation

With her
Country men, women, young
Old & children's sacrifices
Her soul and mind solidified
Motivated her
To continue to uphold
The moto 'defend truth to the end'

Her
Realistic dream of the future
Was
Getting deserved exposure
Of the brutes crimes

Where freedom
Will reign and torture
Relegated
To the dustbin of history
Triumph over tyranny
Hailed by humanity

Her success
Over her tribulations
Shone
Throughout her writings
Exemplary woman
Of valour and integrity
Role model to her community

Imagine yourself being her
Confined to a tiny cell
Denied basic rights
Amenities
Mentally tortured
Like her
Would you be self assured?

I assure you
Flower is
Woman of courage
Not keen to avenge

Role model for humankind
One of a kind
I salute you sister
You are
An inspiration
For young & old

Wished there were millions
More & more
Like you,radiant star
Could shine & glow
Make us mellow
Forget our sorrow

Beautiful flower
And
Bright star you are
Reading her this poem
Brought her nasty memories
And to me wet eyes

Not of sadness
But cry of joy
Made me coy

Not imagining her
She was there in person
Composed and serene

So delighted
To be
In the same room with her
And her wonderful brother

By now
You should know her
If need repeating
She glows
Exhibiting
And
Reverberating
Her fabulous colour

Beautiful & colourful flower
With delightful stare
Her books are everywhere
Want everyone to own
