I'm enjoying this Parson. It got off to quite a slow start (perhaps a bit of an edit needed there) and in this part I'm suggesting you give your reader a bit more about the characters. Just saying the man looked like a guide at the Jorvik Viking...

The short sharp works really well, and I imagine it sounds very effective too.
