Your pain is incurable.
Abandoned by every lover who felt
the intemperate shadow cast by eyes
that know there is no medicine.
At night you fetch juice from the refrigerator,
light hurts and a thin whine
sways you like a banyan.
Adam’s apple moves rhythmically
as you glug from the carton
half in the kitchen, half in the dream.
Like a blind man, legs drift back on instinct
to the heart of your sleep, the arteries of corridors
lead to the chamber and your
fantasies seep out like blood.

your fantasies seep out like
your fantasies seep out like blood...
and stain the withered tendrils
of your once verdant dreams.
But lo, the sun breaks through the
gloom you thought eternal
and hope emerges radiant
to plant new dreams to thrive
in the sunshine of your soul.
Couldn't resist a happy ending, j ;o)

mykle, maybe if you
mykle, maybe if you weren’t such a horrid cunt kids would stop throwing stuff at your house, this poem is better than good and your cartoonish verses are tiring and not even funny are you in the eleventh grade?

Jude is a friend of mine,
Jude is a friend of mine, Dendrite, the joke was for her not for you. No problems with kids now - save the odd one still angry about making a fool of himself with his naive and ridiculous views on Iraq :O)
I hope Jude doesn’t mind me adding this though it’s not about her poem or my ‘response’ to it.
I noticed a gang of kids being chastised by a local ‘Bobby’ recently and they were looking at their feet in embarrassment.
What a difference a few miles can make!

Apologies to you and
Apologies to you and poetjude if this is the case, I just liked the poem a lot and thought your response was a disappointing smarmy retort. What you call my ‘views’ on Iraq were only an objective retelling of the physical record with no opinion point of my own and genuinely glad to hear you have some police presence there.

Nicely understated poem with some great lines.
Especially liked-

Well-written.
