The sun hoisted itself
towards its zenith
as a Blackbird fought
the blue headed worm
I had to prepare the garden
for my ‘baby.’
Every year, at this time,
It was demanded.
The grass had to be cut!
A simple task,
For the growth was not
yet in summers flow
I set up the frame just
behind the conservatory;
where - I fancied – I could
watch my seed grow.
I pulled the netting tight;
securing with stakes.
It was warm work but
necessary for safety.
I stood admiring the work
As my young son ran
From the house shrieking;
“Springtime! Springtime!”
“Yes”, I laughed, lifting him
“It’s Springtime again”
He cheered, “Thanks daddy!”
As I threw him onto the trampoline.

Wonderful, wonderful, Chris:-)
I've never had a go on trampoline. Hula-hoops were all the rage in my time. I even injured myself with one of these, so goodness knows what mischief I would have done with a trampoline.
Your poem is beautiful.
