Baffled by vanishing words
as they slip through a crack in my brain;
I’m scared I’ll forget them
never to be recovered again.
I dread losing my dignity,
in terror of misplacing my pride;
my growing sense of insanity
and constantly having to hide.
Perplexed at the aging process,
integrity slipping away.
I fear, fear itself
Yet, I think dying may be easy, one day.

Baffled by banishing words
as they slip through a crack
in my brain!
I'm scared I'll forget them
never to be recovered again.
Perplexed at the ageing process
integrity slipping away
I fear I fear itself
Yet!I think dieing,may
be easy one day.

Wonderful rhythm and rhyme

Wonderful rhythm and rhyme to this. The thought is pellucid too. One can imagine the fear very well, and as for fear of fear it could give us all nightmares if we were to become too self-conscious !!!.

Like hilary said, beautiful rythm to this. Flow was 10/10 in every verse.

A very subtle exploration of
A very subtle exploration of the fear we dare not name, the dreaded A-word. It is in my family, as both sets of grandparents died with it, and my father now has it. As your last line points out, it´s not something you die from, it´s something you die with, at the expense of dignity; sometimes death is welcome.
Very thought-provoking. Well done.

Agree entirely with Ewan's

Agree entirely with Ewan's comment. Grandmother and mother, went the same way; I would rather be shot!
Great piece that should provoke thought but I'm afraid, that in the case of the 'Big A' it has to be seen first hand to be understood.
On the upside, my wife's grandmother lived to be 101 years and was writing letters to loved ones on the day she died.
Senility is a visitor, that you only recognise when it is knocking at someone else's door!

Such a final but sad ending :( But don't worry Val, we're all a little mad - I'm seventeen and I can already feel my sanity slipping away! Keep writing ;)
