My sister & I

My sister and I. That's not actually a complete or understandable sentence. But it is to me, and the whole point of this story is to show you what "My sister and I" means…
We are like every two sisters but in so many ways we're not. We live in Alexandria, Egypt and love this city. I love the sea, the air and every mysterious place that is yet to be discovered in it. But, we'd always had this fairytale dream of getting out of Egypt…and going to Europe, America, Spain, and Italy!! We would imagine ourselves walking in the streets of those incredible countries, waving at everyone with that look on their faces that says "They're definitely not from here!!!" we'd laugh together sometimes hysterically other times just a smile on our faces. And just dream of how our prince charming would meet us in a book store as we'd both choose the same book. Or how he will see me walking with my friends in the mall and then realize that this is the girl he wants to spend his whole life with. Of course we both knew that this was nothing but a dream but…how could I say it?...we loved our dreaming, we adored our dreaming world, we liked the unreality and the comfort, smiles and peace of mind it brought us. You see… in our dreaming world, everything was wonderful, bright, and beautiful. Even when it was cloudy, windy & rainy. It looked so touching and magical & you could always see a happy married couple down the street hugging to give each other the warmth in time of need. In one word, it was the perfect vision of a perfect dream. Those are actually more than four but it truly was!!
Every time we got back home from a wedding, we had this atmosphere or character or the thing that made us act like we haven't in a time. We were always in a romantic mood after a wedding. We would go back home, shut the door and then we would both stand in front of the mirror. Imagining ourselves as supermodels or a crazy-in-love romantic couple who are cute in the beginning but then start fighting at the end. Sometimes we acted as if we were crazy fans of the Jonas brothers and of John Mayer saying every cute little thing about them and how they're so sweet, adorable, inspiring, and talented! Then we would praise their attractive beautiful physic. we would just talk about how the Jonas brothers' songs makes us smile every time we heard it & how john's songs makes us feel…and that their lyrics are so good. We were somehow fans I could honestly say that. But not like super doper crazy fans…other than that we liked to have fun.
We would do all that in front of our mirror….waving goodbye to it whenever mum calls one of us. I guess our mirror holds a lot of memories.
Sometimes…when we had loads of energy and wanted to get rid of it, we would turn on the computer and play our favorite songs at the highest volume that you could ever imagine…and shake our bodies! It was a great technique to get the stress out of your body whenever you're feeling down or just if you liked to dance. We….we would do it for the sake of both!!
When I was still seven years old, she used to hold my hand and then swing me in the air round & round. I felt as if I was flying. It's true that one time she threw me away when she saw a butterfly in the room but I didn't get hurt so I guess we're alright!! All I could say right now is we trusted our dreaming sky, dreaming air, dreaming streets and our dreaming life!
We didn't get along all the time though…we had our moments and our fights. Sometimes we would fight over the stupidest thing ever like who's going to take which chips or what flavor! Other times we would start arguing about a song…I like it & she doesn't so we start convincing each other into the opposite until something interesting happens and takes our mind away! We would disagree on how much Chris Martin is cute but always agree that he's kind of cute but has this charismatic weird but very attractive character that makes him a lot cuter & more handsome as a person. Funny, I'm listening to a Coldplay song right now.
I admit that I get sometimes so mad and angry at my sister that I never want to look at her but at the end of the day, when we're both in our beds…she would say, " goodnight..". I delay my reply a bit pretending to be angry but then say " you too…!"
After three minutes of total silence she would start to speak and I get so frightened that I almost scream…then she laughs hysterically not expecting my reaction at all!! And I say "don't do that again…"
She's laughing and says "oh come on, admit that was funny!" I take a while to admit it, and then share a little giggle with her…
After five seconds she whispers "Sweet dreams little sis…"
And I say back "Sweet dreams big sis…& don't do that again!"
With her voice she will always say, "ok, nahnooha!!"
