SOMEBODY'S KID

Oh Mummy, I want to be
Just like the ladies on TV;
I could cover my body in honey,
Take off my clothes for money,
I could sing like a fart,
And dress like a tart;
Or I could be an eager virgin -
Sexuality emerging.
Oh Mummy, I want to be
Like the lady on the magazine.
I could bare my chest,
Present which profile's best.
I could smile like a hooker,
You don't have to be a looker;
Or I could take up heroine chic,
To add to my mystique.
You treat me like a fool.
I'm not going to school.
The life mapped out for me
Needs no GCSE;
I can choose one thing or the other -
A 'slagbitch' or a 'mother'.
Well I'd rather have a life
Than stagnate as a 'good little wife'.
You say one thing ,
I see another.
I think you're lying to me Mother.
They're all somebodies kid, you see -
There's no reason why one of them shouldn't be me...,
