THE WIZARD QUINTET PART 1 - THE WIZARD

- 1085 reads
A wizard sits in his tower tall
And descries the world through a crystal ball,
Across the lands he bends his gaze
Observing men and all their ways.
He sees a dragon leap on high
And streak across a darkening sky,
Towards a castle where people sleep
They think they're safe within its keep.
The wizard scans the future then
To see what fate awaits these men,
If no one comes swift to their aid
In dragon fire they'll all be slayed.
He sends a cry into the night
Its answered by a dazzling light,
A winged horse stands there by his side
A magic steed for him to ride.
Faster than a raging storm
On wings of fire the wizard's borne,
To reach the castle e'er its too late
To save the mortals from their fate.
Watchmen there in terror cried
When first the dragon was espied,
From King, to knight, to humble maid
As one they knelt in fear and prayed.
Now they wait in terror stark
And look to skies now grown dark,
The dragon dives in spouts of flame
Come their mortal souls to claim.
Suddenly a hope is their
The wizard hurtles through the air,
Lighting flashes from his staff
And cuts across the dragon's path.
Seared by fire the monster roars
But then towards the wizard soars,
It swings its tail with massive force
And knocks the wizard from his winged horse.
The watchers on the castle wall
Cry out in grief and watch him fall,
With quailing hearts they start to weep
As the dragon turns towards the keep.
But then within a golden sphere
They see the wizard reappear,
A field of magic holds him there
Then slowly moves him through the air.
His staff is raised towards the foe
He casts a spell and lets it go,
A blinding light invades the sky
Like thunder is the dragon's cry.
Flames engulf it all around
With a mighty noise it hits the ground,
Though the wizard's might was sorely tested
He's won the day, the beast is bested.
From King, to knight, to humble squire
The people cheer the dragon's pyre,
While the wizard's steed harks to his call
And returns him to his tower tall.
The wizard sits in his tower tall
And descries the world through a crystal ball,
Across the lands he bends his gaze
Observing men and all their ways.
