End of days 4

At least the battle has started, although still just small sallies and feints, each side probing for weaknesses. Our left flank were taking up positions around an old warehouse and I realised that it was where we bought our first sofa – the over-priced leather one that seemed a good idea at the time. You might be pleased to know that it’s a smoking ruin now, the rear wall blown apart by an enraged earth-demon. The cohort bring the monster down but I order them to pull back – it’s too soon to engage and I want a chance to extend our line.
In the early days before I found the army, it was brutal hand-to-hand scraps as the world slid inexorably into chaos. We were using the old weapons but they were useless against those things that crawled out of the pits. How do you fight a nightmare with a gun? I was still looking for you back then; I can’t really remember when I gave up.
On the right, they’ve cleared a way to the sidings which should give us the room we need. The fliers behind me are getting restless and I raise the sword to signal the charge.
