As sunlight hits grass

As sunlight hits grass
I have sat here before
in this wooden chair
pretending to read
but secretly watching
as you turn and change
change and turn
from natural form
to man made blades
I have sat here before
pretending to read
and watching in wonder
at your transformation
from plainest
meadow grass
with ears of fawn
to dancing, exquisite
tall blades of glass
that glimmer, shimmer
reflecting, holding
rays of softest
fine white light.
As spotlight hits carbon
I am not in my garden
but in the shopping centre
I am walking past
the jewellery shop
to see in the window
diamond rings
all sparkly bright
under artificial
electric light
but they do not dance
like the summer grass..
so I'll sit in my garden
in this wooden chair
to watch and wait..
till sunlight hits grass.
