Obtaining a passport

On Obtaining a Passport
After queuing for 20 minutes I spoke to a man behind the post office counter
So you want to travel to foreign lands?
Then you need a passport in your hands
To get one please fill out this form
Using very black ink which is the norm.
With form filled in I returned to the Post Office
Ink that soaks right through the paper
Is not acceptable for this caper
We copy both sides of the form you send
So fill in another one my friend
And there’s a couple of extra strictures
You need to supply two recent pictures
I went to one of those photo booths
Pictures taken back I went
And spoke again to the Post Office gent
These won’t do the back must be signed
By a person of standing; not a relative mind!
Next with paper work and photos correctly signed
I showed the man my form for the third time of asking
When he saw my signature in the box
And sighed, inside the box the form asks you
Just get it right, please do
Acceptable at last
Now everything’s right the fee’s been paid
We’ll send it off, no more delays
You’ll get your passport sometime next year!
Oh sod it! I’m off to Derbyshire.
