Making wishes

Dear V.
Reflecting on advice long remembered: Watch out what you wish for, you might get it. Careful what you ask, you may not want what you get!
Most of the time I’ve been fortunate.
The once I swallowed a nartjie slice. You know as kids we swallowed a small one whole closed our eyes and made a wish. I wished for a little potato revolver. The type that worked with claps almost like a real revolver. A beautiful toy but to use it took a bit of skill. It came soon enough and with it much excitement.
The hunting knife also turned out fine- waited a while though- luckily I never used it! Then early high school my father bought me a brand new racing-bicycle. Straight after yours! The same!
Do you remember making a wish blowing out birthday candles? On stars? The tooth mouse? 5c was a lot of money those days.
Christmas! Oh Joy! Oh Happiness!
As far as girlfriends go there never was much luck. For the most part as time has learnt, yes, thank God. Like the Café owner guy always advised: “If you must have problems then rather buy a second-hand Alfa”. Be warned. Don’t look for trouble you will get in any case.
If one is realistic in the expectations you probably can’t go wrong. One prayer backfired badly. In high school prayed for “humility” can you handle it. This request has a 100% success rate. Don’t try please.
Ask me.
Then there is a malicious wish. In effect a curse. Always it is regretted it can haunt one for years.
As you say V. Never a make wish not thought through properly. It’s not to be taken lightly. And you yourself believe that the harder you have to work, the more the sweat the tears, the longer you must wait the more appreciated, the greater and more lasting the joy, everything in proportion.
So, may God bless you!
