My cat is now thin

My cat’s getting thin for I’m now feeding him
A smaller amount and no treats

For he’s got very old which is why I’ve been told
To cut down on the food that he eats

Said the vet: “You can exercise dogs but the food your cat hogs
Means that he has to go on a diet

Just plain simple food that a cat ought to eat
I want you to go home and try it

Then he’ll become healthy and I’ll get more wealthy as he eats biscuits I’m going to sell you.”

So I said to my cat “You’ve been getting too fat
And the vet says I’ve something to tell you

Small portions of meat you’ll now think are a treat
But you can fill up on biscuits galore

From the vet they do come and they’ll swell in your tum
To three times the size that they were!”

Now he feels nice and full and then sleeps as a rule
When his stomach is nicely distended.

While I’m pleased to see he’s not bothering me
Once his hungry feeling has ended

My cat is now happy and so is my vet
For he’s richer than ever before

I have to pay but I’m so pleased to say
My companion should live some years more.
