a prairie moon

When the golden sun sets on the wide plain
there is beauty here that still remains
as the stout farmer leads a tired horse to stall a light breeze rustles tall green grass
The bright moon shoots up in the purple sky glowing shape accompanied by orange fireflies
lights twinkle in the farmers white house
and gentle laughter drifts across the land
The frogs relax and sound their call
while the crickets noise rises and falls
The horses snort and eat hay in the red barn
While an owl hoots far off on a willow
The farms dosy dog joins in the chatter
along with the farmers families laughter
as gray smoke billows out the chimney
mingling with the aromas of dinner
Deer arrive to frolick, munch and what may
while in the distance coyotes bay
a black and white tabby rests on the tractor
softly licking her paws
