A morning,
fingernail moon,
outside our window,
peeps, shyly in;
a water-colour dawn
trickling
through the blinds
depicts her –
liquid silver
in my arms.
And then,
those amber eyes
try to blink alive,
until
she drifts off;
ragged breaths,
calm
to soft-edged sighs.
Inch by inch
I explore the ups
and downs –
the hills
the hidden caves
of her...
a terrain
I know better
than the back
of my own hand...
Those amber eyes
meet mine again.
How bright
they shine...
with a love
beyond name.

The images that come to mind
The images that come to mind are strange ones (the liquid silver form with amber eyes) but it's a very powerful piece - especially the last stanza. One of your best I think.

Agree with all above, Tina.
Agree with all above, Tina. Just googled `Forever Amber' as title sounded familiar but couldn't place it - film and book apparently. Coral

Hi Tina,
I have know idea who you are talking about in this
poem, but your description totally grabbed me, it
was such a beautiful description that you portrayed
here and I loved those first two stanzas:-
A morning,
fingernail moon,
outside our window,
peeps, shyly in;
a water-colour dawn
trickling
through the blinds
depicts her -
liquid silver
in my arms.
Thankyou for the read and congratulations on the
well deserved cherries.
Jenny.

I too like the same stanzas
and the words are kind of romantically
said I think Fingernail moon.
Especially the last stanza it just rolls
and flows along.
Well I too saw name in horse list yesterday of a horse yesterday
it was called "Amber Eyes". and a brother's
dog also was "Amber Eyes" beautiful name
and congrats: a cherry!
Have a good week-end.
