POND LIFE

Wings hover drifting over dark liquid,
devoid of colour boatmen move
with a continuous motion,
ever searching feelers
tentatively touching,
needing nutrition.
The winged one stops
at the well of life,
she settles still at last,
resting seconds pass,
her brightly coloured wings
resplendent, glistening
in the summer sun.
After an interval of rest,
she continues her flutter
dwelling close to the
life giving liquid.
The pond so still
supporting individual
creatures and plants,
motionless dark liquid turbid, unclear
yet at the same time aesthetic.
Plant life intermingles
swaying like a dance,
as carp move snake like
occasionally rising to the surface,
bubbles pass from sight
then once again disappearing
below the surface.
A flight of extremely small
unknown winged insects,
move lightly across the surface,
as the dragon fly searches
once again for life giving substance.

Within a world within this
Within a world within this world... balance and the beating heart of life, can be determined by the hover of a dragonfly's wings and measured by, the wake behind a water boatsman's oars. You have captured the heart of your pond... Thank you for sharing your talent Jenny.
