baking biscuits and me
in the back yard
chopping kindling---arthritis
not friendly each time
I bend, pain
reminding this coot
eighty no longer young.
Grandson gone
to town, milk for my
tea, nice kid
best of the lot, scares me
how quickly he’s
growing.
Soon he’ll not
be visiting since I
won’t be
around for our chats. Only
bits of wood chips
left behind to remind
him I was here
a very short while.
