Silly...I Know

I dreamt of him, again last night;
we were going away, Jack...
and me. Waiting for the ferry
to Hamburg as we did,
so many times. Holding hands
on the quayside, making plans;
we would visit the Bier Fest,
maybe, and the next thing I knew...
I blinked, and he’d gone.
I searched the docks,
got horribly lost, as I do...
even in my own backyard,
just like he always said.
Too late, I watched the ship
sail out the harbour –
he was leaning on the rail;
smiling - chatting to friends...
Not once looking back,
as I waved to him.

Hi Tina, it must be so hard

Hi Tina,
it must be so hard to accept that someone you love
is never coming back, you expressed the feelings
of the woman so well in this poem.
Thanks for the read.
Jenny.

Again, you bring a gentle lyrical quality to a sense of loss, how it manifests itself, transposed, in dreaming hours. atb Lena xx

a beautiful and honest poem- whether it's personal or fictional. I like the rythm and the concision.
