The second attempt 8/8

Dave and Mary had just settled themselves for their night time drinks before going to bed, when there was a knock on the kitchen door.
"Whoever can that be at this time of night?" said Dave, getting out of his chair and going into the kitchen.
Mary was amazed to see him come back with Abigail, Fern and Jennifer Jane.
"I suppose everything's alright," she asked, "at least no one's hurt. The dinghy's not damaged is it?"
Abigail explained what had happened. "The only problem now, is that this is the wizard's second attempt and unless we can find him first, I'm afraid he might try to find Jennifer Jane again. If he can think of a way to punish her without actually harming her, then the protective spell won't work and we may lose her all together. I don't think he'll make an attempt too soon, so we have some time to try and think of a way to stop him for good. In the meantime just be wary of strangers."
Dave saw Fern and Abigail out into the garden. When he returned Mary had sent Jennifer Jane to bed.
"This magic stuff seems to be getting a bit out of hand,” he said, “we can't just hang about waiting for this wizard chap to strike again, somehow or other we've got to be able to get at him first. Tomorrow morning we'll go to the Witches' Home and have a word with the senior witches. Perhaps they'll be able to think of a way of stopping this bloke."
