Prelude:
Over a romantic meal,
he tries to impress.
She thinks it’s all Rococo
but really enjoys his feel.
First Movement:
To begin, it is Lento,
slowly, feeling the cadence,
harmonising mind and movement
as they find each other’s tempo.
He shifts to Allegro,
typically trying too hard;
she desires Andante
but improvises with the flow.
Second Movement:
Now both Moderato
moving lo stesso tempo;
feeling the progression,
they move now as a duo.
Now she wants Legato,
but he thinks it’s a deceptive cadence.
Their rhythm becomes asynchronous;
they lose their tempo comodo.
Final Movement:
Now he is Presto
while she’s hoping for a coda.
Instead, it’s a finale
and disappointingly for her, over.
Encore:
She goes home,
performs an etude
solo in her bed;
she practices best on her own.
