Reel Life

The pincer movements of crabs duelling;
a coral reef seahorse carousel;
Life’s a ballroom and a boxing ring.
We all turn in an eternal wheel.

Jewelled night’s a manichean duel
or knight of day dancing with dame night;
we all turn in an eternal wheel.
What wilts must waltz; light fades but fights.

Leaves fall; Fall leaves and Winter enters;
we all turn in an eternal wheel;
mummer Winter sings Spring and Summer;
weals of winter, wrapped in April, heal.

We all turn in an eternal wheel;
dancers changing and chancing dangers;
gyr Falcons circle; war falchions whirl;
doves hatch and loves are matched by nature.

Spokes rotate, acorn’s born, oak grows great;
axle turns, foxtails burn from life’s candle;
wheel rim spins white ermine from stoats coat.
