I Want to Write a Poem and I Want to Write it Now
I want to write a poem but I don’t quite know how.
It’s the early hours of the morning so want to write it now.
I’m sat here at my computer trying to find some inspiration
But spelling mistakes are not helping such a fine aspiration.
So I’ll start with another line to create a good verse.
One thing’s certain, it sure as hell can’t be any worse!
I don’t know though…what I have already written
I’m beginning to like…in fact… I’m quite smitten.
Oh dear, with so few good ideas what shall I write next?
I’m finding it a little difficult to write a decent text.
But who cares because it’s only to pass the time of day.
So it matters not one jot so long as I have my poetic say.
I think my poem is bowling on nicely and I’ve got a good line.
Soon I’ll be finished and this poem will turn out just fine.
Who would have thought that I could be so inspired?
At five o clock in the morning and I don’t feel a bit tired!
Though I can’t say the same for the poor soul reading this.
If you had been more sensible you would have given it a miss.
I won’t be put off because I’m not the sort of person to quit.
But perhaps I should with so little talent and absolutely no wit.
All though who is to say I’m not the next great poet?
Just because they can’t recognise talent but don’t yet know it.
Be brave and put aside critical faculties as you luxuriate,
In this collection of unrelated words only you can appreciate.
With no metre, simile, imagery, symmetry or metaphor,
What is the point of this poem, what the hell is it for?
How should I know it’s no good you looking at me.
I hoped you could make sense of it and help me to see!
