PENSIVE MUSINGS
P K Routray
I am thrilled and my dear friend I am thrilled,
My first poem book is just published.
My dear friend Mr. Gaan edited a part and called it as pensive musings,
to signify my efforts on my recollections and reflections on life’s experience and feelings.
one by one, day by day I had kept my effort on,
writing the poems on my own way without bothering for my acceptability and qualification.
with half a century of life’s experience behind,
I was not afraid of being novice and any such criticisms with words unkind.
I posted them on many a poetic site,
Motivational remarks came rushing from experts to my utter delight.
I chose arbitrarily two hundred and odd poems out of them,
proposed for a book with the suggested name.
I dedicated it to my revered childhood teacher,
who taught me mathematics and English to enable me in life to read higher and move further.
With mathematics as a basic I became an engineer and I earned my family bread and butter,
After retirement English helps me to remain engaged in writing, keeping mind cool and clear.
To have acceptability to readers I sought for forewords from poets of eminence,
To encourage me their review and remarks came forward the book to grace.
While in press for printing the editing was too difficult for me,
in designing the cover, DTP and the accompanying tasks I did not have idea any.
However with toils and worries but withgood wishes and helps of many,
the book has come out encouraging me to keep continuing my poetic journey.
The editing before print was a too onrush a task,
I got fed up and asked the press to go ahead without further check.
The result was embarrassing,
Dear friend Gaan s name had an erroneous spelling.
My dear friend the editor was disturbed and was in rage,
As an insult to injury, the mistake occurred near the front page.
The printing press was requested to redo a part,
With consolation to me that this does happen, the press did start.
Editing was called for both in “Editor” and “edited by” after the printing was over,
The present day technology failed to mitigate even with computer.
as if to honor, remember and to bow at the persons engaged in the old age manual printing but doing wonder.
It was too difficult to print a book,
The expenditure and the botherations had put me in a hook.
The book has come out in print and presented to you all,
I am overjoyed as I have my best here to give my readers pleasure after all.
With this publication I express my gratitude
to all both in front and behind, near and far who blessed me giving me courage and fortitude.
