Wasting Water Over You

The first time you let me down, I sat and cried my tears
The second time you broke my heart, you brought back all my fears
My insecurity took a hold and I chose to run away
Then you told me that you loved me so and wanted me to stay
But then you walked away again and left me feeling blue
So I sat there wasting water over you.

I took you back, you let me down, I cried for days and days
You told me it was in the past and lavished me with praise
But like a fool I forgave you then as I guess I always do
I thought that we were like a team, together, me and you
You said that they were telling lies and you were always true
So I sat there wasting water over you.

But soon again you hurt me so and took away my pride
It felt just like a football match, me on the losing side
And then again you wandered off and strayed away so fast
You seemed to take away my soul and tie it to a mast
I felt like you'd deserted me, I was bottom of the queue
So I sat there wasting water over you.

Then finally you poked away at me until I fell apart
You stripped away my dignity and ripped away my heart
But I sat up straight and I stood strong and gained my self belief
I realised that I was good and you were just a thief
So now you'r gone, I kicked you out and its long overdue
There'll be no more wasting water over you.

jolono, this is a real tear jerker, gutsy, whew. I held my dear wife and cried. Emotions very strong in your excellent story-poem. I try to read as many as I can on ABC---SO MANY WONDERFUL WRITERS LIKE YOURSELF. Have a great day. Rich

This is the best one I've read of yours today. The racing one was good I liked that, but I think this one's better. Needs an edit. There were a lot of different meters in the rhyme of this, some long lines some short, but I never stumbled on the read.
