The sixties were a time of fun
Mods on scooters, days in the sun
Beatles, Stones and Dave Clarke five
Songs that made us feel alive.
Weekends spent down on the sands
Strolling, talking, holding hands
Watch the tide both ebb and flow
At night a fire would flicker and glow
Sleeping bags to keep us warm
Fingers crossed there’ll be no storm
Someone giggles in the night
We all would laugh and then, daylight.
One more day, the time has flown
Then pack our bags and head for home
We’ll be back again quite soon
For fun in the sun, and sleep beneath the moon

Those were the days my friend - you thought they'd never end........keep the faith! Nicely put and evocative.

Nice poem although I
Nice poem although I couldn't help thinking that, first verse aside, those images could be from any era and there's kids who do that stuff now. That's the great part about being young - you always think you're the first to experience anything and that it's all going to last forever. Personally I always thought the 70's wiped the floor with all that had gone before, especially The Beatles. Give me Bowie any day!
