I’m off to East Asia,
it’s been good to know ya.
I’m not gonna drink booze
from a coconut
makin’ appearances
on facebook lookin’
like some
silver spooner;

I’m off to the world,
Not some crazy paving
concrete to the sky
nose to the grindstone
nightmare;
Jumpin’ into idealism
and a sense of being
alive.

and those
big-nosed snivelling
told you so
holier men might
wear kid gloves,
as if I'm some
read it on my palm
s’gonna be alright
fatalist
with candyfloss
resolve and an iPhone
in my back pocket,
but I’ve got no room for
cynics where I’m goin’.

On a paradise beach
no hint of guilt running
through my mind
nor worry
that I’ll look but not see.
Sheer cliffs to the water
my skin catching sun rays
and my heart will be
willing me
into the sea.

I liked in particular:- I’m off to the world, On a paradise beach no hint of guilt running through my mind nor worry that I’ll look but not see. Sheer cliffs to the water my skin catching sun rays and my heart will be willing me into the sea. When do we leave?

Ha, I'm looking for someone to go with as it happens Laurie! So will you down tools and join a stranger on't road?! Thanks for reading and commenting, one day I might get the balls to actually do it (although its not the doing it that holds trepidation, its the fact that at some point I'll be back in dear old Blighty, completely skint and with, at best, a patchy employment record).

Cheers Stan, isn't it a small victory when you convince yourself you don't have to do it *right* now, and that you can hide under the rock for a bit longer?! Stops me getting worked up, being in the comfort zone, then I realise nobody ever did anything of note from their comfort zone. I make no promises to myself, I just live in hope. Absolutely made up with my cherries though! :)

Like everyone else have always dreamed of doing it and never have. As you get older there are more things that make you say that "it's too late now". But I have a mate, that went travelling in 1988 and came back in 2006, now runs a healthfood store and does acupuncture ( he learned it in china), he's probably the happiest man I know!

jolono, cheers for reading and commenting - I have been told by many that it becomes harder and harder to justify as you get older. I love the idea of finding yourself and doing it for 18 years! I just don't know how someone could have the balls and funds to maintain something like that. I don't suppose your mate has passed his secret on to you has he? Stan, is it too late to revisit the Canada thing? Although it might be easier to traverse the Atlantic in a canoe than it is to get through all the levels of beauracracy needed to do it!
