Azure green and teal and ochre
scents of earth and warm and damp
sweet and rich and of decay
Amber half-light does not warm
marks declining day
Leaves are but forest whispers
breathing secrets while we walk
knee-deep in rattling husks, dried souls
or dreams which might have been
Freckled light spots green glass waters
nature’s living lace
Trail your fingers through the limpid reeds-
teeming and growling
keening and moaning
sink into my velvet waters
mute the world, pale Ophélie.

This is expansive, a massive poem - it takes you everywhere in autumn, but in so few lines. Efficient and fantastic writing.
