Quiet at Christmas

Christmas Day is quiet now
the crush of Christmas rush
has passed, the roads and shops share silence.
Our beach of youth in summer packed
was empty on this day.
We locals liked a Christmas play
away from crowds, with sand and rocks
uncluttered by a hoard of trippers
disgorged from streams of charabancs to lie
and cover all the sand, ride high
in summer fair on wheel and dippers.
Stroll on a quiet beach with winter breeze.

Well I live very far from the sea, but you brought it to me, Rhiannon, with this lovely poem. So atmospheric and haunting.
