Clustered village in a vale of sombre hills,
high mound aside with towering ruin:
gaping, ragged window voids that frame
stunning views of drop to valley floor
and greens and browns and sun-caught yellow of the further slopes;
tumbling, swollen river rushing round the mound,
and seats to sit and watch the scene below,
soothed by the stillnes and the splashing sound.

Hello Rhiannonw,
This too is lovely. You set the scene so well and I have always loved the sound of water.
Another one of your poems that I have much enjoyed.

What a lovely picture you paint here, Rhiannon. Must visit, one of these days. Loved the aliteration in the last line. Cleverly done.

It really does sound my kind of place, and I know what you mean by appreciating the sunlight more in those shadowy places.
All best wishes.
